Hi All I've been a member since last September, but just been a bit too shy to introduce myself My name is Amy, i am 28 and work as a Management Accountant. I was diagnosed with RA last August (2011) but started noticing the symptoms at the start of 2011. I am currently in 20mg MTX tablets, but waiting to change to MTX injections as the tablets aren't working. For pain I take Tramadol and Meloxicam. I also take Amitriptyline at night for Carpel Turnel symptoms (caused by RA), but I don't really like taking it as it gives me really bad dreams. I still feel very lost with all this and a bit like an invisable person in a world full off people who can't see what's really going on (hope that makes sense). It is nice to see how supportive you all are of each other and that there is somewhere i can turn to for advice Big hugs Amy xXx

Hi Amy,
Welcome to the forum but sorry you have RA. No need to be shy, we are all like that to start with and we have all been where you are now with the RA so you'll get lots of support and advice on here. Ask as many questions as you like, there is usually someone who can answer them. I am 62, have had RA for 11 years and take mtx and humira. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Love Doreen xx

Hello Amy Welcome to the forum. I agree It's hard to make your first post but it gets easier as you build up confidence through taking the plunge. I was diagnosed in the same month as you and also had been experiencing symptoms for a while before that. I also have CTS, so already we have much in common. I hope you will be posting again in the future. As someone with RA you have a lot to offer to the group. When I have posted with a query or question it has been really useful to get a range of different perspectives on issues. Best wishes from Naomi.

Hi Amy,
Welcome to the forum. I have been a member for a while but haven't posted on here recently. I am also 28 and have had RA for just over 7 years now. I work part-time as a speech and language therapist. I'm currently on 10mg MTX and prednisolone (and previously hydroxychloroquine) Your comment about feeling invisible in a world of people who can't see what's going on makes perfect sense to me!! I have some amazing friends but even after seven years I don't think they really understand what I go through. Hopefully you'll find lots of help and advice on here.

Hi Amy
Welcome to the forum but so sorry you have RA. The people on this forum are wonderful and there is no need to be shy. You will learn so much just by reading but don't be afraid to ask anything, even if it seems stupid to you. Believe me I am sure one of us will have been down the same path. I don't know what I would have done without this forum when I was first diagnosed three years ago. The first year was spent in a blur of self-doubt. I could not come to terms with the diagnosis for some time.
Take your time as you are going to go through a large learning curve but you will get there.
Jackie xx

Hi Amy, and a very warm welcome to the forum, though I`m sorry you have RA, of course. I think you will enjoy joining us on here - I didn`t know a single person with RA when I was diagnosed, but found a wealth of info and help on here. I`m Kathleen C, diagnosed over 6 years ago now, and currently taking humira, plus various other pills and potions! Take care, Kathleen x

to be honest i still feel lost at times with it all, but being a member of the forum i realise we are all different with RA. i don't think ahead i take each day as it comes that's the way it works for me.

Hi Amy, welcome, sorry you have RA. I completely understand that feeling of being in a world where everything else carries on but know body knows what is going on with you. I developed RA 5 years ago and it does get easier, I am very selective about who I tell- I found it very distressing to disclose that I had RA to be met with indifference or lack of understanding. The forum is great to find a sympathetic ear (or 2). I do really well on MTX and hydroxychloroquin (and pacing myself) I hope you find something that works for you. Jo
